Alerts & notifications
We check live in-game spreads about every 30 seconds during live games. When a check finds the spread has moved by the number you've configured for a trigger (B1, B2 or B3), we send an alert via your chosen methods — email and/or push alerts. Each alert includes the final pregame spread, the live spread we recorded, the score, the game clock, and your selected bookmaker. Email alerts also show the total movement.
Not always. We check live spreads about every 30 seconds, so a spread that crosses your threshold and moves back before the next check can be missed entirely. Live spreads also move fast — especially in basketball — so we cannot guarantee that the spread quoted in an alert is still available by the time you act on it. Bookmakers can suspend a market or change a line at any time. An alert tells you that a move happened; it is not a quote.
B1, B2 and B3 are the three trigger levels, each a bigger move off the final pregame spread. For example, on a basketball game you might set B1 at 5 points, B2 at 10 and B3 at 15. On MLB and NHL games, moves are measured in runs and goals. All three must move the same direction, and each must be a larger move than the one before it — so a game that reaches B2 has already passed B1. If the spread moves far enough between two checks to pass more than one level at once, you'll get an alert for each level, at the same time. How many of these levels you can set per Scrape depends on your plan — see the pricing page.
Once per Scrape. When a trigger's threshold is reached, it fires once for each team that Scrape is tracking in that game, and it won't fire again for that game, even if the spread moves back and crosses the threshold again later. Each Scrape has its own triggers, so a new Scrape, including one created to replace a deleted Scrape, starts fresh. The number of triggers available to you for each Single Scrape or Full Scrape depends on your subscription plan.
If two or more of your Scrapes match the same game, tracked team, trigger level, point value and bookmaker at substantially the same time, we combine them into one notification so you aren't alerted twice for the same movement. Each Scrape's alert history still records the fire.
That depends on how broadly you set your triggers and, in the case of Full Scrapes, your filters. A Single Scrape monitors your chosen team in a single game, so at most three alerts will fire for any given Single Scrape (depending upon your subscription plan and your settings for that Scrape). A Full Scrape is designed to monitor a full sport's games simultaneously, so setting broad filters and/or small thresholds can produce a massive number of alerts on a busy slate. Think of a busy college football or college basketball Saturday, where dozens (if not 100 or more) games could be played on that day. With limited filters and low alert thresholds, you could receive several hundred alerts in a single day. If you're getting more than you want, adjust your triggers or narrow your filters.
The cutoff is the point in a game after which we stop monitoring and will not send further alerts. For example, if the default cutoff for college basketball is the 2nd half with 10:00 remaining, triggers won't fire after that point. This prevents late-game garbage-time alerts. Depending on your plan, you can customize cutoff times per sport and per Scrape (and turn off cutoffs altogether), or use our sport defaults.
An optional setting in Step 3 of Create Scrape. Pick a filter between -101 and -500, and a trigger won't fire while its odds are at or shorter than your filter — even if the line has been reached. The trigger stays active, and fires on a later quote where the line is still reached and the odds are longer than your filter (before your cutoff).
A Single Scrape tracks one team in one upcoming game — you pick the game and the team. Full Scrapes let you set filters that automatically track every game matching them — by sport, conference, spread range, venue, and more. Full Scrapes are ideal for ongoing coverage of a category of games without setting up each game individually.
There are several possible reasons: the spread may not have moved enough to fire any of your triggers; the trigger may have already fired earlier in that game, since each trigger fires only once per game; the movement may have happened and reversed between two checks, about 30 seconds apart, so no check ever saw it; the movement may have occurred after the cutoff time; your Scrape's short odds filter may have held back every quote that reached your trigger (see What is the short odds filter?); or the game may not have been actively monitored. If you use Push, also check that Push notifications are enabled on your device and that Push is checked on that Scrape. Check your Alerts History to see whether a "no-alert recap" was recorded for that game. If you believe there was a technical error, please contact us.
When a game you're tracking ends without any of your triggers firing, we record a no-alert recap so you know the game was monitored. Every recap is saved in your Alerts History and appears on your Scorecard. You can also receive recaps by email or push: set your defaults for new Scrapes in Account Settings, or change them on an existing Scrape in Step 3 of its edit screen. An entry marked "History only" was saved to your Alerts History but not sent by email or push.
Yes. Your triggers measure from the final pregame spread, the same as any Scrape. If the live spread is already past a trigger's target when you create the Scrape, that trigger fires once the Scrape starts tracking the game, as long as the game hasn't reached your cutoff. If it's past more than one, each fires and sends its own alert (see What's the difference between B1, B2 and B3?). Games that started without a pregame spread from your bookmaker aren't offered.
Your bookmaker didn't post a pregame spread we could use for that game, so there's no final pregame spread to measure from and that Scrape can't fire for that game. Your other games aren't affected. For MLB and NHL Scrapes this reads "Pregame run line unavailable" or "Pregame puck line unavailable".
Apple only allows a website to send push notifications after you've added it to your Home Screen. This applies to every site, not just Scrape the Spread. It takes about a minute:
  1. Open Scrape the Spread in Safari on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap the Share button. You may need to tap the "..." button at the bottom of the screen first.
  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen."
  4. You'll see the Scrape the Spread logo — tap "Add."
  5. Find the logo on your Home Screen and open it from there. It works like a regular app.
  6. You'll be asked to sign in again. This is expected — the installed app keeps its own separate sign-in.
  7. Go to Account Settings and tap "Enable push on this device."
  8. Tap "Allow" when your device asks permission.
Two things worth knowing. First, when the Push alerts box is checked on a Scrape, alerts will be sent to all devices where Push is enabled. You may want to doublecheck any Scrapes you created before enabling Push to ensure your alert delivery settings are set the way you want them. Second, remember that each device is treated separately, so repeat the steps above on any other iPhone or iPad where you want to receive Push alerts.
We poll for spread changes approximately every 30 seconds. Once a trigger fires, email and push alerts are typically delivered within seconds. We cannot guarantee exact delivery times due to factors outside our control, including network conditions.

When games go final they'll be shown on your Scorecard, either in the "Results" section (if a trigger fired on your tracked team) or in the "No-alert recaps" section (if a team was tracked but no alert fired). Live games and the day's upcoming games stay on your Dashboard.

Results are measured by comparing the final score against the tracked team's Target, which is the final pregame spread plus the Threshold for each trigger. Pushes are not included in the win-loss percentage.

A tracked team in a single game can appear on multiple rows if you set more than one trigger on a Scrape.

No-alert recaps are listed separately and are not scored since no trigger fired, but the "Closest" column shows how close the in-game spread came to the Target during the game.

The Scorecard covers up to the last twelve months of alerts, including no-alert recaps.

Account & settings
Yes. Go to Account Settings and click Edit next to your email address or password. Changes take effect immediately. If you've forgotten your password, use the forgot password flow on the login page.
Your notification choices in Account Settings are defaults for new Scrapes. Each Scrape keeps its own delivery settings from the moment it's created, so changing a default doesn't change Scrapes you already have. To change an existing Scrape, go to Manage Scrapes, edit the Scrape, and update its delivery settings in Step 3. Turning on push for a device is different: it applies to every Scrape that has Push checked.
Go to Manage Scrapes. Each Scrape has a pause switch: pause a Scrape to stop it without deleting it, and switch it back on to resume it. You can resume a Scrape while your subscription is active and your plan allows it. If you've reached your plan's limit for active Scrapes, pause or delete another one first. Deleting a Scrape removes it permanently, along with its alert history and Scorecard results, and can't be undone.
Go to Account Settings and use the Delete account button. Deletion is scheduled, not immediate; your account is permanently deleted at least 14 days after you ask. If you have time left on your then-current subscription, you can keep using your remaining subscription and keep receiving alerts until your subscription period ends. Instead, you can also choose to end your subscription immediately, although payments you already made will not be refunded, in whole or in part. Until the deletion date, you can still sign in and access your account information (including your Scrapes and Alerts History). If you change your mind and would like to cancel your pending account deletion, you must click on the Cancel deletion button — signing in alone doesn't cancel the deletion. While a deletion is pending, you can't start or change a subscription. We'll email you when your deletion is scheduled and again when it's complete. It is not possible to restore an account after it has been deleted.
Yes. Go to Manage Scrapes, find the Full Scrape you want to edit, and click the edit icon. You can change the Scrape name, filter settings, and triggers at any time. Changes only apply going forward (e.g., if a trigger has already fired on a game that is currently live, editing that trigger will not re-arm it for that game).
Billing & plans
Every plan includes all supported sports and email and push alerts. Higher plans add more active Single Scrapes, Full Scrapes (filter-based auto-tracking), more triggers per Scrape, choice of bookmaker, custom cutoff times per sport, the short odds filter, and score downloads. See the pricing page for the current side-by-side comparison.
Go to Billing and click the upgrade or downgrade button on the plan you'd like. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing for the remainder of the current period. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period — you'll retain full access to your current plan until then. When a downgrade takes effect, any Scrapes your new plan doesn't cover are paused, for example Full Scrapes on a plan without them, or active Single Scrapes over your new plan's limit. Paused Scrapes stay in Manage Scrapes, and you can resume any that fit your new plan. On Scrapes that keep running, triggers above your new plan's limit and short odds filters stop applying, and each is removed if you save changes to that Scrape. Your Scrapes keep their bookmaker and cutoffs.
You can cancel at any time from the Billing page. Your access continues through the end of the current billing period at no additional charge. There are no cancellation fees.
You'll find your recent charges under Billing History on your Billing page. Click "Invoice " to open the invoice, where you can download the invoice or a receipt as a PDF. Receipts are also emailed to your billing email address automatically after each charge.
If a payment fails, we'll email you, and your Scrapes keep running for 14 days. During that time, go to Billing and update your payment method; we'll also automatically retry the charge. If payment isn't resolved within 14 days, your Scrapes stop running and you won't receive alerts until it is. If you continue to have issues, contact us at support@scrapethespread.com and we'll help resolve it.
